Decking - Timber & Composite

Decking is the quickest way to create a level, usable seating area over sloping or awkward ground. We build both traditional timber decking and low-maintenance composite boards, always on a properly supported, ventilated frame so it stays solid and lasts.

What's included

  • Composite decking in a range of colours
  • Softwood and hardwood timber decking
  • Raised and multi-level decks
  • Steps, ramps and balustrades
  • Glass and stainless steel balustrades
  • Deck lighting and integrated seating
  • Old deck removal and disposal

Timber or composite?

Timber is warmer underfoot, cheaper up front and easy to repair, but needs treating every year or two. Composite costs more initially but never rots, splinters or needs staining - ideal if you want a deck you simply wash down. We'll bring samples of both.

Frames built to last

Most deck failures are frame failures. We use properly sized, treated joists on solid supports with airflow underneath and weed membrane below, so the structure stays dry and sound for years.

Decks over difficult ground

Slopes, boggy corners and level changes are where decking earns its keep. We design the frame to bridge the problem ground rather than fight it, often combined with steps down to a patio or lawn.

Common questions

How long does composite decking last?
Quality composite boards typically carry 20–25 year manufacturer warranties and realistically last longer than timber with far less maintenance.
Do I need planning permission for decking?
Usually not, provided the deck is no more than 30cm above ground level and doesn't cover more than half the garden. We'll confirm for your specific project.
